What does it actually pick up?
Anything roughly round between 3/4" and 1.7" across: walnuts, pecans, hickory nuts, chestnuts, macadamias, magnolia seed pods, small fallen fruit and golf balls. The spring-wire cage flexes open as it rolls over each one and closes behind it.
How does the foot release work?
There's a button on the frame. Press it with your foot and the side lid pops open, so you can tip the load straight into the storage bag or a bucket. No cap to twist and no wires to pull apart with your fingers.
Do I have to press down hard?
A little downward pressure helps, especially in taller grass. It works best on a mown lawn, and a quick back-and-forth frees nuts that have been stepped into the ground.
How long is the handle? Will it fit me?
The aluminum pole telescopes from 24" to 53.5" and locks with three lever clamps, so it adjusts for anyone in the house and collapses short for storage.
